During 1858 there were numerous changes to the membership of the Exploration Committee.

Members leaving the Committee in 1858:

• Charles Farewell Esq.
• Dr Robert Corbet Knaggs, MRCSL.
• Frederick Acheson, CE.
• Thomas E Rawlinson, CE.
• William Blandowski Esq.
• Arthur Dobree Esq.
• Lieutenant John Randall Pascoe, JP.
• Dr Paul Howard McGillvray, AM.
• G S Hough Esq.
• A K Smith.

The following new member were appointed to the Committee in 1858:

• Sir William Foster Stawell.
• Angus McMillan Esq.
• John Watson Esq.
• Dr Richard Eades.
• James Smith.

The following former members were re-appointed to the Committee in 1858:

• Sir Frederick McCoy.
• Professor Georg Neumayer (Original member re-appointed).

On Monday, 8 November 1858, Surveyor-General, Charles Whybrow Ligar, was appointed to the Exploration Committee to replace The Hon Captain Clarke who was out of the Colony.
