Telegram #16, Burke to Macadam from Mia Mia, 26 August 1860.

 

Received in Melbourne on Sunday, 26 August 1860 and read by Dr Macadam at an ordinary meeting of the Royal Society, held at half-past 7 o'clock in the Society's house. Governor Barkly in the chair.

 

Dated: Mia Mia, Augt 26th

The following despatch has been received for delivery subject
to the regulations and conditions printed on the other side.

Telegram for : Dr MacAdam, Secy Exploration Committee, Royal Society

The exploring party arrived here last night.

We halt here today (Sunday) and proceed on tomorrow.

The roads are very bad.
